All Change

Welcome back to the world of The Lead Generation Group Ltd! Lisa and I took a little holiday in June but we are back in the thick of it once more.

Obviously, I would be thought of as an idiot if I didn't mention what a momentous day this has been: The political landscape of our country has changed almost beyond recognition after the country voted for change.

Whatever your political views are, I think, anyone who is running a business appreciates the amount of work there is on Keir Starmer's agenda. Obviously, every person and business in the country will now be holding its breath to see what his changes will bring to our lives.

We certainly all need changes and we hope they are all for the good of everyone; as a business owner I want to see growth, prosperity and sustained investment in all of our industries and of course, as an ex-military man, in the security and protection of the country, and for those who have served and are now looking to join civilian life, that there are the jobs and houses to sustain them in civvy street.

At the LG Group we wait with baited breath to see what effect a change in government has (if any) to our clients, especially our hauliers. Although there is growth in this sector, there is also pressure to be greener as well and to use the railways to move more freight around the country instead of clogging up our roads.

We are proud to be partnered with some of the greener companies in the transport industry who realise they have a duty to reduce carbon emissions as much as possible whilst sustaining their profit margins and delivering on time for their customers.

As I returned from my holiday jaunt I read on social media that the new PM is striving to achieve a healthy work life balance by finishing work by 6:00pm on a Friday night – not sure that will be doable tonight, Keir! But whilst many people will mock his need to balance the job of running the country with his commitment to his family (after all they came before Number 10), I believe all business leaders should also be aiming for a better work life balance for them and their employees. Without the backing and support of family and friends, none of us would be where we are today.

Whilst it is hard to switch off when we are away from our business, making the effort to do so is vitally important (hence our own little holiday!). We all need to refresh ourselves and we need to ensure that our staff do as well. The heart of the LG Group is our staff and we don't want them to have burn-out because there will be no LG Group without them to back us up.

Let's hope that Keir does manage to make work life balance the norm rather than the exception, because he will need the support of everyone around him to deliver on his promises.
