British Army Values And Standards In Todays Business?

Left-right-left-right-left-right – Halt! Left Turn! Stand at Ease!
This is the image we all have when we think of the military - and the Army in particular, but all branches of the Armed Forces have basic training, drill and discipline. And how, you ask, is this relevant to my business?
Well, not only is the military about hard work, operations, discipline and drill it’s also about values and standards. Having been a member of the British Army for many a long year it instilled in me, over the course of my career – and not just during that time in the Army – those same values and standards that me and my company still measure ourselves against today.
So, what are those values?
Courage
Discipline
Respect for Others
Integrity
Loyalty And Selfless Commitment
And the standards?
Lawful
Acceptable Behaviour
Professional
As a business owner are any, or all of these, resonating with you?
I have been thinking a lot lately about those of you who are just starting out in business and what you can do to lay the foundations for your business?
Perhaps the Army values and standards are a base on which you too can build upon?
Every business, and every business owner, should set out its core values and the standards by which it operates, right from Day One. Don’t be afraid to have a Code of Conduct by which you, your business, employees and clients all have to adhere to. Be aligned with everyone you come into contact with. It seems obvious doesn’t it.
But sometimes, as you strive to build up your business and increase your revenue, these values and standards can get lost or forgotten in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The more you become involved in your business the easier it is to take on too much. You suddenly find that you sometimes you are beginning to fail at one thing, fall short on another, or simply try to be all things to all people so that what you started out doing well has perhaps become a little shoddy. We’ve all had days when it becomes overwhelming. We are only human after all. Life gets in the way, emotions can run high and there are times when we will do anything and everything we can to succeed in our chosen path.
Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, step back and remember that there are people like us - whose sole mission in life is to help you grow and increase your revenue, AND do it in line with YOUR core values and standards because they match our own.
I often take a step back and remind myself of what the Army taught me. It’s a tried and tested method because it works – and today it keeps me aligned with my clients, my colleagues and my friends. We do all we can for you so you don’t have to. Forget being “A Jack of All Trades and Master of None”.
Focus on the things you do well in your business and leave the lead generation to us. You will be safe in the knowledge that we will only target your soulmate clients. Share your values and standards with us and we’ll do the rest!
As someone I once worked with used to tell his fellow worker: “I’ve got me standards, Frank!”
Give us a call today and let’s get aligned.
