Horses for Courses

I looked up the phrase 'Horses for Courses' to get a true definition. It means: 'the matching of tasks and talent.'

This week my life has been dominated by equines. Strangely I seem to be attracting anything that is horse related – even though it would take at least a million quid – if not more – to get me on a horse!

As I was thinking about this week’s blog I was naturally drawn to comparing modern day transport and logistics to the days of yore when horse power was the ONLY power. Even when mechanical and steam engines became part of everyday industrial life, horses were still at the heart of our transport industry – that is until the First World War when Britain alone recruited a staggering 120,000 horses from the civilian population; in total approximately 484,143 were killed overall (this includes horses, mules, camels and bullocks). And if you’ve ever watched 'War Horse' you will understand the horror these beautiful animals endured along with every soldier who served in that conflict.

Imagine the devastation this had on working people who had previously relied on horse power. If it were not for the horror of war using less horses for heavy duty work might be seen as a blessing to thousands of working equines. Replacing horse power with mechanical aid meant less for a working animal to endure, but it also meant a decline in many of the heavy breeds such as Shires, Clydesdales and the Suffolk Punch, to name but a few. What a magnificent sight it is to see some of the few remaining Shires pulling a dray cart that belongs to a brewery.

Nowadays the Lead Generation Group is associated with the more modern way of logistics and transport, but it’s nice to know that transport leaders, such as Eddie Stobart name their trucks instead of their horses. What a brilliant marketing ploy – sadly that’s not one we came up with!

However, Stobart aside, we are on point with other transport and logistics companies to make sure their brand is on trend and their marketing strategy is working. It’s what we do best. If we were a horse, we would be named Red Rum – a truly great horse and a legend. Stamina, breeding, speed, a strong heart AND personality. A good marketer will have those qualities and more; we are your safe bet for a winner.

Like all the best racing stables, here at the LG Group, we are the team behind your success. If we have to go the extra furlong then we will because turning out winners in business is what we do. We make sure your business is more than a head in front of the opposition and you are the ones parading in the winners’ enclosure whilst we have our eyes on the next big prize.

At the beginning I talked about matching tasks to talent, and that’s exactly what we do here at the Lead Generation Group. Everyone in our stable is a clear winner!
