Let’s Get Physical!

Cue the music and images of Oliva Newton-John in leg warmers and tights!!! At The Lead Generation Group Ltd we are not suggesting for one moment that you need to make a record and start leaping about like Mr. Motivator, but now the warmer weather and the lighter days and nights are drawing to a close, how many of us will stay cocooned indoors until spring?

It's so easy to use work as an excuse NOT to exercise. Exercise can take many forms to suit all shapes, sizes and ages. You don't have to pump iron or run a marathon to keep fit and healthy. Getting out every day for a walk is a good start.

We are as guilty here as anyone; when we are working on a marketing campaign for a client it's easy to stay glued to the desk and the computer screen all day. Suddenly you look up and realise it's much darker than previously noted and almost a whole day has passed.

I know a lady who runs mental health training and she has started a walking networking group, which is a great way of killing two birds with one stone. You get out in the fresh air, get much needed exercise but are still promoting your business. A fellow networker attended an outdoor event recently in the woods: there was a good ten minute walk to and from the site and then some activities as well as food cooked over an open fire and the chance for everyone to sit and swap business stories.

There is much emphasis on our health these days, but still we are wont to ignore it and make excuses, but having a business requires good mental and physical health to keep us focused, energised and moving forward. Even it you are not the business owner, but an employer, you owe it to your staff to ensure they stay fit and healthy, otherwise with a company full of burnt-out and sick staff, there will be no business.

At The LG Group we take care of our health, especially as recent years have shown us the value of health. Money and privilege can't guarantee health – just look at King Charles and the Princess of Wales.

None of us knows what's around the corner so we have a duty to ourselves, and our businesses and to employees – if we are lucky enough to have them – to take care of our physical health and in turn that leads to stronger mental health.

Take the breaks you need; always allow your employees to take their legally entitled breaks. When you get physical you allow your mind to switch off from the stresses of the day and you focus on putting one foot in front of the other when you walk or listening to the sounds of nature or if you are in the gym, making sure you do one more repetition or one more push up. These physical things leave little room for sweating the small stuff.
