May The Forth Be With You
You don't have to be a fan to know that it's THAT day on the fourth. The Star Wars franchise stretches across generations. Some of us at The Lead Generation Group Ltd remember the first and the original movie, seeing the iconic rolling script at the beginning of the film telling us about a galaxy far, far away. . . and the most powerful thing about this franchise is its marketing.
You can mention R2D2, Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan or Darth Vader and immediately people know what you're talking about – and some won't ever have watched a Star Wars film in their lives!
When it came out it revolutionised the making of films; I bet George Lucas didn't think it would still be scrolling into the 21st Century. But I bet if I mentioned the name Charles Lippincott most people won't have a clue who he is. But Charles was the genius when it came to marketing one of the biggest grossing franchises in history.
And that's the way it works in our industry. As a marketeer your sole focus is on what's best for your customer, not about blowing your own trumpet.
I can imagine when it came to throwing ideas in the hat, Charles was probably laughed at more than once but he had a vision and nothing would shake that belief that he knew the best way to sell Star Wars to the masses. History proves him right. He was once asked why Star Wars was such a success and why he took on the challenge:
Lippincott says his marketing strategy came from the perspective of being a fan himself; he considered what he would want, which helped him develop merchandise like-minded fans would love.
Admittedly, here at The Lead Generation Group Ltd, we haven't (yet) been asked to bring to market a campaign to sell a big Hollywood blockbuster, but we do what Charles did on a regular basis, just somewhat more understated!
What we don't do, however, is underestimate how much of an impact marketing has on bringing your business to life and selling it to your target audience. And we totally understand where Lippincott is coming from when he says he is a fan. You have to love something and believe in it to bring out the best in your sales and marketing team and, therefore, getting the best marketing campaign out there for your clients.
I love transport and logistics and this comes from my genuine love and military background: I know what it takes to bring my clients' businesses to market and make sure they are selling to the right target audience, especially when there is so much competition in this field.
The LG Group has its own "Star Wars" customers. We bring the force of our marketing strategy to bear and when needs be, I can be like Darth Vader and stop at nothing to bring the force of our skills and expertise to get your product to market.
Always, may The Force be with you!
