You might be wondering why I have chosen this subject to speak about and what's it got to do with marketing?

June is Osteoporosis month and The Lead Generation Group is highlighting this condition. It affects thousands of people in their everyday lives. It's a condition that weakens the bones and makes them fragile and prone to breakages. It will develop slowly over a number of years and is often only diagnosed when a there is a sudden impact on the body that will cause a bone to break.

Obviously if you suffer from this condition you will understand the impact it has on your every day life, and of course on your business if you are a business owner or entrepreneur.

Imagine if you are in the logistics industry; a lot of strain on the body if you are driving, moving goods manually, fixing your vehicle or your load.

You could be running your business empire from the office but think about the stains that has on your body. We are all guilty of spending too much time sitting behind our desks and not taking proper breaks and moving around. Do we take enough exercise when business is booming and we are meeting ourselves coming back? If course we don't and one of the causes of osteoporosis is not taking regular exercise.

In the logistics industry, be it moving goods and waste, there is a certain perception of an unhealthy lifestyle for those who are at the cutting edge. Driving long distances and long hours leaves those who do it on a daily basis prone to not being able to move around regularly, take walks, go to the gym or go swimming. Perhaps their diet is not as healthy as it should be. This lifestyle can make this group more prone to osteoporosis and it can affect their ability to carry out their work if diagnosed.

Sometimes its easy to forget the impact of our health and lifestyle on our businesses. It's all too easy to think: "It'll never happen to me." But what if it does? How will it impact on your life and your business? Sometimes we are very bad at making contingency plans for the 'what ifs'.
