Road Victims

Did you know that August is National Road Victim Month, and this is something that really resonates with us here at The LG Group.

Sadly people are maimed and killed on our roads on a daily basis and by raising awareness, and remembering those who have lost their lives on our road, this month allows us all to take a moment and think about how we can do our bit for safer driving and, therefore, make our roads safer.

Because we are heavily involved with the haulage industry, it is especially relevant to us and many of our clients. They take to the highways and byways of the UK every day to deliver goods and services countrywide. How many of us would like to swap places with the heavy goods vehicle drivers and tackle our motorways and roads? I know it would take a lot to get me behind the wheel of an articulated lorry these days!

Do you think that the standard of driving has dropped, or the awareness of drivers to what's going on around them? Every time someone gets into a vehicle, not only do you have to think about your own actions, but those of the people around you.

When we are pootling along in our cars, we have to be thinking and looking at least two or three vehicles ahead; of course being higher up in a lorry is an advantage, but it's also difficult to bring a thirty ton-plus vehicle to a quick stop, or take evasive action if something is around you.

The Lead Generation Group Ltd was formed because of my knowledge of transport and logistics, garnered in the Army, and Lisa's knowledge and skill in sales and marketing. When we are working with our well-wheeled clients, we want to know that they are safe out there whilst working hard to deliver to their clients.

National Road Victim Month is a great opportunity to raise awareness to make our roads much safer, as well as to remember those victims of road traffic accidents. You can hold your own awareness events, or simply just take a bit more time and care next time you step into your vehicle.

Wouldn't it be great if everyone who passed their test got to spend a day, either behind the wheel of a lorry, or in the cab with someone who drives for a living? The only way we can appreciate another's job role is to spend time in their shoes. Imagine going from a Ford Fiesta to being in charge of a juggernaut? How easy do you think it would be? Imagine, not only do you have the responsibility for your vehicle, but for the goods you are carrying, your own health and safety and that of other drivers on the road?
