The Cow Jumped Over The Moon

Written by Fred Hughes - Wed 2nd Mar 2022

We have all heard the nursery rhyme about the cow that jumped over the moon and the dish that ran away with the spoon; but now you’re asking what the hell has that got to do with business?

We know that it’s highly unlikely – nay impossible – for a cow to jump over the moon, but not everything is impossible in business if you have faith and confidence (cue Julie Andrews).

I was on my usual dog walk yesterday and the track was getting muddier and the verge was getting less grassy! I was one side and the dog (who only has small legs) was the other side. I wasn’t confident enough to go over to her because I didn’t want to slip and end up with mud, and God knows what, all over me, but she took one look at the enormous muddy puddle between us and went for it! Straight over, not even a hair touched the water, and she was back by my side looking so pleased with herself.

I’m talking, of course, about CONFIDENCE. I hesitated but she just went for it. She was living in the moment; she had an objective and she knew she could make that leap of faith. And when we start our own businesses or enterprises, we too have to take that leap of faith and find complete confidence in our own abilities to make that business work.

We have a thought, an idea, a vision of what we want the business to look like, how we will run it and what systems we will put in place to make sure we succeed. Perhaps we don’t have every t crossed or i dotted, but we have the gist of it sorted. The only thing that can lay in wait and trip us up is the confidence to just go for it. Nowadays that’s sometimes referred to as “imposter syndrome”. Fortunately, most dogs don’t suffer from it, regardless of size or breed. They see something they want to go after and they leap. Sometimes, they fall short or slip up, but immediately they go for it again, and again, and again. . .

We like to think that as human beings we are more sophisticated than dogs because we weigh up the risks and then decide upon a course of action. At least most of us do: Sometimes, though, you do just have to make the leap regardless and allow yourself to make a mistake, or a miscalculation. Yes, I probably should have just gone across the great muddy divide. I might have come out of it unscathed or I might have fallen short, slipped and ended up covered in mud! Either way I would have still taken that leap of faith. On this occasion I was taught a valuable lesson by a dog!

However, one thing you can be confident of when you have made the decision to start your business, you can have complete confidence in the Lead Generation Group to do the right thing with your marketing needs, because there are no muddy puddles!

We treat your business exactly like our own. We make sure you have the absolute peace of mind and confidence to know we are NOT imposters. Therefore, we will be able to get your business over any muddy puddles that may lie between success and marketing failure. We definitely don’t have “imposter syndrome” when it comes to knowing our stuff.
